Blues News:
Blues fans have some powerful new music on the horizon, blending legacy, collaboration, and fresh creative energy. First up, bassist Oteil Burbridge and vocalist Lamar Williams Jr. have joined forces for a brand-new full-length album titled The Offering, set for release May 1 via Floki Studios. Recorded on Iceland’s stunning northern coast, the project was produced by drummer and engineer Alan Evans. The album’s debut single, “The Way We Rise,” sets the tone with a deeply reflective message. Burbridge describes the track as a meditation on perseverance—how we endure difficult times and come through stronger. The song closes with what he calls a “spiritually fortifying” groove, hinting at an album rooted in both musical depth and emotional resilience. Meanwhile, the legacy of Gregg Allman continues to shine with the upcoming release of Great As Ever: Live In Philadelphia ’86, arriving April 10 through his posthumous label, Sawrite Records. The album captures a previously unreleased performance recorded at the intimate Chestnut Cabaret in Philadelphia on January 11, 1986. This live recording showcases Allman at the height of his solo career, backed by a band firing on all cylinders. A newly released version of “Don’t Want You No More” highlights his signature Hammond B-3 organ work—fluid, soulful, and unmistakably his own. The release is part of an ongoing series drawn from Allman’s personal archives, giving fans a deeper look into his enduring musical legacy.
“Graveyard Blues debuted on May 12, 2002, on Long Island’s WRCN and has been sharing the soul of the blues with listeners ever since.”
